We started this directory when one day we were looking for online retailers that stocked a particular type of product. We had assumed that it would be easy to find a couple of shops that had what we were looking for and that we would then be able to decide who to buy from.
We were however mistaken. First of all, the search engines seem to give priority positions to the big high street chains and big names. We were forever finding Amazon, Tesco, Argos etc in the top positions for whatever we looked for. We know who they are and where to find them. We wanted to find those smaller retailers who might just have something else to offer us.
Ok we thought forget the search engines, there are bound to be plenty of directories with lists of the kind of retailers we were looking for, but again we were wrong. When we started to look at these shopping directories we found that either they too were full of the high street ‘big boys’ or they were full of old links that were out of date and went knowhere.
So we decided that if we couldn’t easily find what we were looking for then there must be others in just the same position so we have created this directory. Please be patient with us it’s March 2011 and we will add new shops as and when we find them but if anyone could make any recommendations then that would be great.
This directory is for UK based websites that sell online physical products to UK consumers. We will not include adult themed shops, affiliate links, or any websites that we feel are selling anything that could be deemed offensive. Sorry but we don’t include any high street/retail park national giants either. We all know how to find you already.
